After the 2019 Cottage Gig, we were feeling pretty good about ourselves as a band. We decided that it was time to think about playing at a real gig. After much discussion, we decided to take Ted up on his suggestion to play at the Stittsville Legion. It’s an older crowd and we play older music so it seemed like the proverbial match made in heaven.

We went to see them and it turned out that they were looking for a band to play at an awards banquet. We pointed the organizing staff at our website where they could look at our videos and provided a list of songs in our repertoire. They contacted us to say they were happy with what they saw and the repertoire. They offered us several hundred dollars for the night’s work.

We asked them if there were any other songs that they thought we ought to cover. They had two suggestions, both crowd favourites. One was Mustang Sally and the other was Wagon Wheel. We quickly added them to our repertoire. The date for us to play was May 22nd, 2020.

Well, as you know, in early March the COVID-19 pandemic hit hard. In the face of the resulting lockdowns, our gig was cancelled. So close!
